JAVA was left in a drop box of a small town in middle TN. Very scared and crawling with fleas. She is now relaxing and getting to know her foster home and brothers and sisters. She likes to play with the youngest member of the foster family. Her tail is up and she's wagging it so we think she was just terrified being in the shelter. She is very sweet and will make someone a wonderful pet. She has learned the doggie door and doing great with housetraining. She is eager to please and will be one of those dogs that will do anything for treats. If you are looking fora pretty older puppy that's past that puppy chewing stage then JAVA is the pup for you. Please fill out the on line app today.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
More about JAVA...KY
Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
