BIO:  Daisy came in with another dog from Ohio when their owner was no longer able to care for them. She would be better in a home with another small dog or two. Daisy is fine with her foster mom’s dogs. She does very well with house manners as long as she has access to the outside. She has been using a doggie door. If you don’t have a doggie door, you will have to get her on a schedule.

Daisy is such a lap dog! She wants nothing more than to be right next to you and covered with a blanket. Daisy can get a little jealous of other dogs when she’s in your lap but with a stern voice or putting her down, she’ll get the message that the behavior is not acceptable. While she doesn’t sleep in the big bed in her foster home, she would love to in her new home.

This is what Daisy needs to be happy:

  • A fenced yard
  • Another small, young dog to pal around with
  • Children over the age of 10 years only as Daisy is not fond of strangers coming into the home
  • No apartments or high-rises
  • Someone who will have patience with her while she finds her place in the pack

If you’re interested in adopting Daisy, you must fill out our online adoption application. Once you have submitted the application, we will talk to your vet and references. Then we’d be happy to reach out to you and discuss Daisy in detail. We can tell you that she’s a very loving and loyal pet who you won’t be sorry you’ve adopted!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $55 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state they are being fostered in.

For Canadian adopters, once you are approved you will have to come across into the states to pick her up from the transport we will not drive into Canada.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
