BIO:

Sully is just way too awesome for words- He loves everybody and all dogs but NOT cats. He has a very high prey drive. Sully loves to play ball. That will keep him occupied for hours if you can keep up with him. He is very vocal when he wants some loving.  He will bark for pets!  When he is all cuddled up with you, he’ll start making these little cooing sounds then get a little growly and then whiny then he makes a little barks so you will pet him to sleep.  He wants to be loved, and loved and loved all the time. Sully was a stray at the shelter and no one came to claim him.  No stand up tricks or lots of stairs for Sully. That is very bad for a dachshund.

Sully is crate trained- he doesn’t really like it though once he gets in there, but in he went all by himself the first day as his new foster home. Sully loves to play and roll around on the floor with other dogs- just like puppy buddies.  

Sully has absolutely no food aggression at all.  Sometimes he wants his nylabone all to himself and will bet a little growly.   He went to a Dachshund Meetup with over 25 other dogs and had a GREAT time- he stole all the other dogs’ plushy toys- that is another favorite of his so if you have a favorite plushy – it better be out of his reach.

Sully is currently in Big Bear, CA.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
