BIO:  Say hello to Fritz! This beautiful boy was wandering the streets of middle Tennessee, hungry and scared. AADR pulled him from a shelter near Nashville and that was his lucky day.

Fritz needs time to warm up to strangers but once he does, he is friendly and playful; sometimes he even smiles showing his pearly whites! Fritz loves laps, going for walks or car rides, chasing small critters, and treats. He does not like strangers, big dogs, or getting his picture taken. He loves to sleep in the big bed and is very fond of tummy rubs. Fritz has been telling me when he needs to go outside, but like any dachshund, he will need patience when transitioning to a forever home. While he doesn’t like strangers, give him his space and let him come to you. Once he does, he is forever yours. This boy has a lot of love to give to the right family willing to take the time to earn his trust.

Our must haves for this sweet little guy include:

  • A fenced yard
  • No small children or grandchildren
  • No apartments or high-rises
  • Someone who is home a lot because he wants to be with you

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and Mid-West. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
