BIO:  Talk about sweet and friendly, that’s Fiona! She came from Kentucky when she tried to snatch food out of a small childs hand and accidently bit the child. For that reason, no small children in her adopter's home. So, she is obviously food motivated!

We can’t say enough good things about this girl! She gets along great with the other foster dogs but we don’t know about cats. She just really wants to be with her people and will follow you everywhere.

Our must haves for this incredibly sweet girl include:

  • A fenced yard
  • No small children or grandchildren
  • No apartments or high rises
  • Someone who is home a lot because she wants to be with you

You won’t go wrong adopting this sweet little girl! She’s 10 pounds but she could lose a pound and have more of an defined waist that Dachshunds are supposed to have. She will have a fresh grooming before going to her forever home.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
