HOME W/ SMALL CHILDREN: Probably not- older, responsible kids would be okay
HOME W/ OTHER DOGS: Yes
HOME W/ CATS: If supervised, at first
I smile when I think of Daisy- what a little spitfire! She has the classic Dachshund personality. She loves to play- either with the other dogs, or she'll grab your pantleg, and try to get you to play with her. But what she really wants to do, is be in your lap covering you with kisses. She's quite the little lovebug.
She came from the same home that Binki did and still needs some work on housetraining. But she has come along way with positive reinforcement. Not unlike Binki, she really wants to please you, too.
She loves to play, but sometimes gets a little 'carried away'. I probably wouldn't recommend a house with small children, but maybe teenagers. She seems to do well with other dogs, as well. After having a chance to observe Daisy in my home, I believe she would be happiest in a home with either another dachshund or a family that is home during the day. She seems to be sad when left alone her crate for longer periods of time but having a doxie buddy or her person to keep her company would make Daisy feel right at home!
Daisy reminds me of one of my own Dachshunds, who has brought me many years of smiles and laughter at her antics. Who ever gets to own this little girl will have years of entertainment ahead of them.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
