BIO: Flint came from New York when his owner could no longer care for him due to a move. What a SWEET guy! He’s friendly with people he meets, and he can be a little bossy with new dogs but if told "no", he moves on.
Our wish list for this sweet boy includes:
- Someone who is home a lot
- A fenced yard
- No apartment or high rises
- No small children
- No dominant male or female dogs, he can also be an only dog
- Lots of walks, hiking trails, and adventures, always leashed
He came in a couple pounds heavier than what he is now but he worked hard and he has now lost two pounds and looks perfect. The pictures we took were when he was a little overweight so think two pounds lighter. If you are looking for a Dachshund that you can take anywhere around people, then Flint is the one you are looking for! He had a fresh dental and the vet suggested either a water supplement to help keep his teeth cleaner or brushing his teeth. He did lose most of the little teeth in the front of his mouth (upper and lower) and a couple in the back. It’s important his new owner understands the importance of dentals with him to help him to keep the teeth he still has.
Don’t miss out on this handsome guy!
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
