HI, My name is Miera, I am 3 years old and my foster mommy says "I'm a sweetie." My foster mommy doesn't really know much about my history, but she says she can tell by the way I act that I was a "very loved dog." She thinks that the person who turned me in must have been a man...because I like men... I love to sit next to my foster mommy in the chair and I love to sleep in the big bed. I have lost a little weight since I have been here because I can go out the doggy door and run in the yard with the other dogs...and squirrels. My foster mommy says I must have been around cats because I don't even pay any attention to the cats here...unless it is to try and eat some of their food. We don't have children at this house, so I haven't been tested to see if I like kids or not. If I could pick my forever home it would be one where I could be the center of attention, be allowed to sit on the furniture and sleep in the bed, a place where there is a yard for me...although I love to take walks...and someone who would hold me and love me. I really am a "sweetie."
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
