Update 2010:

Myah is a vivacious little chocolate dachshund.  She has personality plus loves lots of attention.  She goes outside through the doggie door but in rain or cold will go on a peepee pad inside. She is always by my side and sleeps close to my body. She sits on my lap when I am at the computer.  She is just a love bunny.

She has a low pitched whine when she wants something (like being scratched on her tummy).  She is sweet and listens.

She has one blind eye due to KCS, dry eye syndrome, that was not treated by her owner.  I put dry eye drops in her eyes 3 times a day and at least two if I am away during the day.  She has no  idea she can’t see out of her eye.

She does have a big fault, but only if you have a cat.  She hates them, well maybe not hate them but she tries to kill them.  Think it has to do with my dogs acting like a pack and killing two possums in my back yard.  Now she thinks cats are possums and has tried to bite my cats.  I have to separate them 100%.  I suppose she can be trained not to chase them.  She gets along great with my other dogs, and they all love each other, (although Myah has a special love for the two legged type, and they come first in her life-at least I do)  .

Myah needs a home where she will get lots of love and attention.  She has blossomed here because she gets both.  She wants to sit with you and sleep with you.  An older person or couple (without cats) would be ideal for Myah. She is a wonderful pet.  I wish she was my only dog so I could give her all the attention she needs.

---------------

MYAH was an owner surrender given up due to divorce and moving into an apt. She was very scared the first couple hours at the new foster moms home but now has settle in and doing great. She prefers the foster dad and likes to sit on his lap while watching TV. If you are looking for someone to help you watch those ball games on TV then Myah is the one for you. She likes sleeping in the big bed and following the foster dad around the house. She gets along with the other fosters and likes the doggie door and fenced in yard. Please give Myah a home to call her own, soon.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
