BIO: What can we say about Barkley? Nothing bad, that’s for sure!
What a wonderful dog! He is friendly with just about everyone he meets. He is a little unsure around bigger dogs so if you have a large dog, you should proceed with caution and care. Otherwise, he gets along just fine. Barkley is from Kentucky where he was surrendered by his owner who ran into some health issues and could no longer keep him. Despite having his world turned upside down, he has been coping very well. He has been doing his potty chores quite well, eating well, and just loves being around his people. Within an hour of being in his foster home, he was lounging around like he had been there for years!! Below is a video of Barkley playing with his foster sister Lucy.
He did require a dental when he came into rescue. While he didn’t lose any teeth, he did have hair impacted on some of his teeth and the vet HIGHLY recommends that he receive a yearly dental.
He loves to be with you and will follow you around the house. He will jump up in the chair with you. He loves to sleep in the big bed. In fact, he does not like being away from you. When you approach him to pick him up, he flops to the floor and rolls onto his back, expecting a belly rub. He will whine when put into a crate when you leave the house, but he has not soiled his crate nor chewed on the pillows or blankets in his crate.
Our wishes for Barkley include:
- A fenced yard
- No small children or grandchildren in the home
- Someone who is home a lot
- A small dog for him to hang with and keep him company if you have to go out
- No apartments or high-rises
He is a fantastic dog who is super sweet and cute on top of everything! Barkley will be a great companion for one lucky family!
