BIO:  Paisley was given away to several homes before someone decided it was best to have her go to rescue. Said they couldn’t house train her but we’ve had no problem with her since being in foster care. If you don’t have a doggie door then a schedule would work for her. She doesn’t mind the cold at all but we don’t know about snow.

Our must-haves for this sweet girl include:

  • A fenced yard
  • Another young, small dog to keep her company if you have to leave for a while. That dog also needs to be social to help her with her confidence.
  • No apartment, high rises or condos
  • Someone who is a home body when not working if you work away from home

This little girl is so sweet and her spirit could be crushed if someone were to yell at her. She does very well with treats but not too many since she was overweight when she came in and we have gotten her down to about 15 pounds. She could lose another pound and be perfect. Gotta watch the back you know!

Cold weather doesn’t bother her and if you live in a snowy area we are sure she wouldn’t mind that either. The most important thing is that we find her a home where they will work on her confidence and help her to be the pet she was meant to be.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Paisley in WI

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
