Thad was rescued from a puppy mill that was going out of business.Thad is doing very well with housetraining especially when kept on a schedule.Thad is very shy of men.He must have been handled in a rough manner.I think if the given the opportunity with a lot of love and patience Thad can overcome his insecure feelings he has with a male figure.Thad will attach himself to any female in the household immediately.I believe that Thad would do best in a quiet household as he does not like loud noises or sudden movements.Thad is a very loving, sweet little boy with a terrific disposition. He gets along very well with other dogs (I don’t see any aggression to other dogs or with food).I’m not sure about cats because we don’t have any cats.Thad loves to sleep in the big bed; he cuddles right up to you.Thad would do best with a fenced in yard, however, will walk on a leash for you (we are working on this).Thad has a beautiful long, curly red coat.He is so soft and loves to be your center of attention. He enjoys being brushed and especially loves to sit along side of you on the couch. He is very quite and keeps to himself a lot but we are working on this too, the other dogs have helped bring out his personality.Thad thoroughly enjoys being outside, he loves to run in the yard with the other dogs.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
