BIO:  Meet Mike! He has his own fan club... every vet and tech who met him in Tennessee and Florida loved this sweetheart! He is one happy, roll with the punches, kinda guy! Mikey loves everybody and everybody loves Mikey!

Mike came into rescue when his owner went into a nursing home and Mike and two other dogs were taken to a shelter in eastern Tennessee. Another rescuer pulled Mike from the shelter and eventually contacted AADR. Mike had one of the worst dental cases our vet had ever seen. In fact, he had to have reconstructive surgery on his mouth performed by a wonderful Pet Dental Specialist who cares for animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Mike’s mouth is healing well. He goes back for his follow-up with the specialist in Wesley Chapel on September 18th. Mike is eating soften food like a champ. He is finally able to put on some much-needed weight.

Here is what we’re looking for in Mike’s forever home:

  • A fenced yard or a screened lanai (He loves watching for critters!).
  • He’ll be fine as an only dog if you are home a good part of the day.
  • Permission to sleep in the BIG bed (He loves it and is not a bed hog!).
  • Someone to love and spoil him since he deserves it and he’ll love you right back, too!
  • An adopter in Florida would be AWESOME!

Don’t wait to apply for this wonderful doxie. He is a GREAT pup and has years of lovin’ to give you! Foster mom is going to miss this little guy when she finds him the perfect family! Contact Meg meg1709@comcast.net if you have a question. Better yet, go fill out an application at www.AllAmericanDachshundRescue.org... you won’t be sorry!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
