BIO:  Ranger and his brothers were dumped at a Good Samaritan's property in Arkansas. The family was unable to keep the 3 dogs, so they went searching for a rescue to take them. Ranger is the smallest of the 3 at only 10 pounds but he is still growing. We believe him to be a Dachshund-Beagle mix so he has the longer body of a Dachshund and the longer legs of a Beagle. Our must-have's for this little guy include:

  • Another young small dog in the home since he loves to play
  • No apartments or high rises
  • A fenced yard

Although Ranger is still a puppy, he is very smart and super sweet. He likes to chew so chew toys will be needed and you will need to puppy proof your home or you may find he has stolen your tv remote or glasses. Napkins are his favorite thing to steal and rip apart. He is submissive and loves his people and kisses are endless! He enjoys the company of other dogs and wants to play. Ranger needs another dog to pal around with, to learn from and to play with. He would not do well as an only dog. A fenced yard is a must for this guy. He will crawl up next to you in the big bed at night and sleep like a baby. You will wake with tons of happy puppy kisses every morning!

This handsome hound will go quickly, so if you have questions please email Foster Mom at decollinss@aol.com or visit  https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org to read before you adopt and fill out an application.

More about Ranger in TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Requires a yard, Likes to play with toys, Playful, Affectionate, Intelligent, Even-tempered, Needs a companion animal

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
