BIO:  Cody was found on CraigList by a Good Samaritan who feared for his safety. We do feel that he was cared for at one point, but then the family didn’t want him when the parent passed away and he fell into neglect. We promised Cody that this will not happen to him again so we are looking for the perfect home that will let him live out his life being loved and well-cared for. Our must-have's for this incredible boy include:

  • A fenced yard
  • Another older Dachshund to keep him company if you have to be gone
  • No apartments or high rises, he’s a Dachshund and likes to bark at strange noises
  • Someone who will give him a soft bed to lay his head down and the care he deserves

Cody is a sweet, sweet boy! He gets along with all the other foster dogs and just wants to have a low-key household and someone to hold him in their lap. If you have yard work, he’ll be happy to watch you while you toil away but he’ll be there for moral support. You couldn’t ask for a more laid-back dachshund... give him a chance to prove it!

More about Cody in PA

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
