BIO: Hello my name is Pee Wee. I may be small but full of love. I have a distinguished look that goes with my age but I am running circles around my foster sisters. My favorite thing is to chase balls. I have a great tracking sense and can find a ball in any area of my large yard.
I am very loving and share any seat I can with my foster mom. I snuggle and am so happy in the big bed with mom and my two sisters. I have had company from other dog cousins and get along fine as long as someone will throw my ball. We have to put all toys away in the evening around 9ish so we can all relax.
I will make a wonderful addition to a family home or I think especially a home with folks around most of the day. I definitely need a yard, and other dogs for companionship when my family is away. I am not fond of my crate but am getting more comfortable. I stay in my family room with my sisters and the crate door open. I am getting used to it being a safe place. I can be a chewer when I am feeling scared or alone but as I feel more love and know I am safe I am getting better. I love my special blanket and traveled in the car very well. I am wonderful and full of love.
Children are my friends too and I have no problem with you touching me while I eat. I realize I am getting fed and no one is taking it away. Call me Pee Wee with lots of love to give
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
More about Pee Wee
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
