BIO:  Chase is a beautiful, young, playful, and very submissive little dog that has an absolutely gorgeous coat! He came to rescue after being placed on Craig’s List along with his sister for “free”. Both were taken by an individual who within ONW day wanted to return them. Their original owner would not take them back so their new owner threatened to take them to the shelter. AADR stepped in to save the day and little Chase and his sister are now safe in rescue.  

Must haves for Chase:

• No young children under 12 years old
• Another young dog for Chase to play with
• No apartments or high rises
• A fenced back yard attached to the house for him to safely play and potty 
• Adopter to be home a lot (not just during Covid 19) to housetrain him and help him to be more social    

Chase is very obedient and comes when called. He wants to be right by his people’s side all the time and loves attention and belly rubs. Chase is such a sweet little boy! He warms up to people and strangers very quickly and is not a barker at all. He gets along well with his foster siblings, both male and female. He walks well on a leash (check out his video).

This little guy has come such a long way in the time he’s been in his foster home. Chase does not like to be put in a crate during the day if you have to leave. He sleeps quietly in a crate at night but is not crated during the day when I need to go out for errands because he’s potty trained(to a schedule) and does just fine being left out. He just does not like being in a crate during the day. I leave him out with my dogs when I leave the house and he just chills with the rest of them. I check my security camera when I’m gone and Chase is totally quiet and happy when we are not home.

Chase is doing wonderfully with his house training. As long as he is given the opportunity to potty outside often, it is becoming rare that he has an accident in the house. Foster mom rewards him with a treat every time he does his business outside and it seems to be working like a charm.

Chase is the most laid back, easy going, never meets a stranger, obedient, fast learning, non-barker little dog I’ve ever seen! He’s just about perfect in every way!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
