Sandy is a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix.  She is very lively and playful – even with dogs 4 times her size!  Sandy sleeps in her crate all night as long as the crate is in the same room where people are sleeping; however, I’m sure she would love to sleep in the people bed!  She is doing well on her house training as long as she is given the opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours during the day.  No problems at all making it through the night or any time that she is in her crate.  She is very athletic for a little dog – quite the jumper!  She is also a very sweet and affectionate dog with no bad habits.  Sandy is a super smart little girl – she learned to sit on command almost immediately.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

More about SANDY...TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
