BIO: Carson came from the home of an older couple in Alabama that forgot how much work a puppy can be. Our wish list for him includes:
- A fenced yard
- Someone home a lot to help house-train - this doesn't mean you go back to work when Covid-19 is over, he needs a stay at home person or someone who works from home
- Another dog to play with; he can play just fine by himself but if you do have another dog, s/he must be young and no larger than 20 pounds
- Patience until he gets the potty training down pat... he’s very smart and loves his foster mom’s doggie door
- Any children (including grandkids) must be 10 years or older
This little boy doesn’t walk, he runs everywhere, and when he gets tired he’ll go in his crate and catch a power nap and then he’s up and at 'em again. So if you plan on adopting him you better have your running shoes on and while you are at it, don’t wear laces since he’ll try to untie your shoes! HE’S ALL PUPPY!
Please don’t apply if you don’t work from home all the time. You’ll also need to have the energy to keep up with him. He loves to play with toys so it's best to have plenty. He loves to be outside and if your garden is within the fence, he’d love to help you plant (or maybe un-plant). Never a dull minute with this little guy.
He’s been fed off the table so please don’t let him continue to beg or feed him from the table. It’s not good for him and will make him overweight.
Understand we are going to be very picky where he goes because you’ll be his second home in his short life.
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
