AVAILABLE AFTER AUG 2nd GOING THRU HEARTWORM TREATMENT RIGHT NOW

BUTTERSCOTCH came from a shelter in MS. We were asked to take her because she was heartworm positive so she has to go thru treatment first. Because she was from the deep south she has to go thru two treatments to make sure we kill all the heartworms. She is doing great since the first treatment and turning into a love bug. She loves to sit with you while you are watching TV or reading but interacts well with the other dogs. She gets along with everyone. Was a little scared when she first came to us but warme up after a day or two. We never push the fosters we let them come at there own pace, that helps them to know this is a safe place. We don't think children under 10 would be a good idea only because she is so small. We crate her when we leave and she is fine in a crate with a rawhide. We do not crate at night and she just finds a bed to sleep in and is no problem all night long. She is doing fine here with a doggie door. If you are interested in making BUTTERSCOTCH your buddy please fill out the online app and understand that she can't go to her new home until after the 2nd of aug when she get her oral heartworm treatment and ready to move on.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
