BIO (11/1/2019):  Meet Miss Lola!  She came to rescue from northern Florida when her owner could no longer care for her.  She’s cute as a button, sweet as candy, and soft as silk.  She’s a little shy at first but within a few days is frisky, giving loving kisses, and shaking her toys.  Lola likes being with other dogs, both male and female.  Lola came from a home with 7 other doxies. She has always had other dogs at home. She needs a home with at least one other dog.  She was fascinated with the cat and was soon trying to give her kisses too.  When it’s bedtime, Lola actually seems to prefer a large dog bed to the big bed.  She doesn’t mind playing in the big bed but goes down the ramp to the large pet bed in the living room to sleep.

Lola is a bit overweight, but steps are being taken to correct this.  She eats very slowly so, if there are other dogs around, she needs to be fed separately to prevent her food being taken.   Lola has mild Alopecia Ventral Thorax and Ventral Abdomen (mild hair loss on her chest and tummy).  This does not distract from her beautiful coat at all.  Regular grooming keeps her coat shiny and flowing.

Lola is super friendly and follows her humans around the house waiting to be played with or looking for rubs, especially belly rubs!  She loves her naps in her bed but also loves her laptime.  This little girl loves car rides too.  She is very polite while out and walks on a leash well, enjoying leisurely walks.

* Looking for an adopter with at least one other dog
* Fenced yard, too, please!

This beautiful senior girl won’t disappoint.  She will be a welcomed addition to your home!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
