BIO:  Sierra and Sage came from a shelter in middle AL. If you want to adopt both Sierra and Sage, please let their foster mom know if not then you will need a young dog to play with Sierra because she loves to play.

  • Must have a fenced yard
  • Must be home a lot to finish up her house-training
  • Must have a young dog to play with, not an older dog
  • No apartments

Sierra is all go and needs a young dog to play with her because she has lots of energy, she will play, play, play. They are doing very well with house breaking to a doggie door but if you don’t have one then you really need to put them on a schedule. Our hope is that you want to adopt these two together because they love to play together and they sleep together now. A fenced yard is a must to wear off all that puppy energy. They love toys and playing tug of war with each other. They also get along great with all the other dogs in the foster home. If you are interested in one or both, please apply online soon as they will not be with us long.

More about Sierra in MD

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
