BIO:  Savannah came from a hoarding situation in northern GA, and she most likely lived in a cage and did nothing but produce babies. Here is what we know about this sweet girl:

  • She loves her people and will follow you everywhere
  • Loves lap time
  • Must have someone home a lot to keep her on a strict potty schedule but will follow you out in the fenced yard
  • Gets along better with male dogs and only submissive female dogs
  • No apartments

This poor baby was nothing but a breeding machine and because of that she has so much to learn and is curious as can be, wanting to check everything out. Dapple to dapple should never be bred to each other unless you study the genetics and when breeders only breed for greed, many of them end up deaf or blind or both. In Savannah’s case, she is only blind in one eye and can hear so she’s one of the lucky ones.

She used to be growly of lap time but she’s getting much better now that we’ve been working with her but she does need a strong pack leader to not let her run the show. Because she’s been a breeder dog for 8 years she’s going to need someone that will give her some time to learn to be a pet, these are all new experiences to her. Would you please give her a chance to be the beloved family member she should be?

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
