BIO (10/13/2019): Sadie came from northern Alabama when she was picked up by the side of a busy 4 lane highway and taken to the local shelter. Little Sadie:
- Is mostly blind but can see shadows
- Is house-trained to a schedule
- Is friendly to all, very sweet
- Must have a fenced yard
Sadly, Sadie’s eyes were left without veterinary care for too long and her retinas have detached. But please, don’t let that stop you from giving this sweet girl a forever home. She learns her way around the house and the fenced yard quickly. She’ll go to the door when she wants out and will even go down a few steps or a ramp. Sadie requires two different eye drops to be put in her eyes twice a day: Diclofenac (an NSAID to reduce swelling in the eyes) and Tropicamide (dilates the eye which probably allows her to see those shadows). Both bottles of drops last for at least two months and the cost is around $30.00, which would be approximately $15.00 a month. Sadie allows us to put the drops in her eyes with no problem and then goes on her merry way.
Sadie does very well with the other dogs and if you allow her, she’d love to sleep in your bed but if not, she’ll happily sleep in her own bed on the floor by your bed at night. During the day, you’ll find her in her favorite dog bed.
Please consider Sadie. Just because she can’t see, doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve a home of her own. SHE IS WAITING!
