BIO (9/17/2019):  Caleb came from an awful hoarding situation in East Tennessee.  Caleb:

  • Loves to be cuddled
  • Likes the company of other small dogs
  • Must have a fenced yard
  • Needs time to learn to trust
  • Must have someone home most of the time

If you are looking for a sweet project, then Caleb is your boy!  He has come so far from the first day I got him.  But he can go so much further in his life.  This is where you - his forever home - come in.

Caleb enjoys his bath time and he had no problem with his first grooming appointment, but he will do better if you stay with him.

Now that he has been with me for a while, he joins in with my two dachshunds when waiting for meals.  He also likes to let me know he is there by touching the back of my leg with his cold nose!

With all of this being said, he MUST learn to trust you first.  He will if you are patient and loving!  Understand there will be some rough days ahead, but the outcome will outweigh the bad.  Are you ready to take on this worthy challenge?

More about Caleb in TN

Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids, Good with Adults, Requires a yard, Cratetrained, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
