BIO (9/30/2019):  Hi everyone, my name is Hudson!  I came from Western KY where I was thrown from a moving car that was driving through a parking lot.  A Good Samaritan picked me up and took me to a vet in town to be sure I was okay.  When I checked out with just a little "road rash", I was sent to AADR.

I have been working with my Foster Mom (FM) on manners and things.  Here's what you need to know about me.

• I answer to my name, and come when I am called.  I'm working on other commands too.
• I love people, other dogs, and car rides!
• NO CATS!  I have a very high prey-drive (that means I am an awesome hunter), and I view every critter as prey.  That includes cats.
• I love walks with you and I am getting very good at walking on the leash.  I also love to RUN in my fenced yard!!
• I love to be adored and loved on!  I will lay beside you on the couch and let you pet me until I fall asleep. 
• I would love to be able to sleep in the big bed with you, but I understand if I need to sleep in my crate.  FM is training me to my crate, and I sleep in there all night without a peep.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
