BIO: Buffie and her best friend, Buttons (see his bio) has had a sad life but still have the love for people. They first started out with a family but when the family could not take care of them anymore they went up for sale at a Walmart parking lot. A nice person from the Human Society rescued them. When they went up for adoption a man that wanted both of them and promised to give them a good home. Well ... at some point he didn't want them anymore and gave them to an employee of his. Buffie & Buttons lived outside in a doghouse but never complained. The women tried to take good care of them but her husband didn’t want them and when they came to their foster home we have learned that they are skittish around men. They now have lots of foster brothers and sisters and are working on being around men. If you didn't keep count -- in less than one year of their lives they have lived in 5 homes.Buffie is so unique looking and is sweet and nice but would prefer a home with NO men or a house where she doesn’t have to interact with the man – she is not aggressive towards men just doesn’t want to be around them. She will lay on your lap and look at you with those sad eyes.Although Buttons and Buffie would like to go to a home together, they are not so bonded that they could not be separated! Please give Buffie the furever home she has never had!
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.
If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
