BIO:  Jasper came from the Memphis, TN shelter, heartworm positive and sick. We’ve treated the heartworms and have him back to healthy again. The only thing left to do, because he’s worn his canines down, is to get him root canals and that will be coming the first part of September.  So, you have plenty of time to get your vacation out of the way and put in your application for this handsome guy. Here's what you should know about Jasper:

The shaved spots on his back are where they gave the Immiticide shot for the heartworms, this will grow back and you’ll never know he had a shot on his back.

Jasper is a deep red, just beautiful! You can’t find a friendlier dog... he loves all people! Please consider giving him his last forever home.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
