Teddy was surrendered by his owner because they could no longer keep him. We are glad that they contacted us to find him a good home and one that he truly deserves. This little boy is just like a Teddy Bear which is where he got his name. He loves to snuggle with his mommy all day. He follows her from room to room just to be close to her at all times. He gets along great with other dogs and kids. We are not sure about cats because he is not exposed to any here. He is still a puppy so we are working on the potty training. He is making great progress though because he loves making his mommy happy…..and the treats don’t hurt either. His favorite place to sleep is in the big bed with his mommy and daddy at night. Now he is looking for a place that he can call his forever home. He is UTD on all shots and heartworm negative and on Interceptor and Frontline.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.

Not Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
