We don't why this boy was named Rascal, he should have been named Happy his tail has not stopped since he's been here. He was turned into the shelter and we think it was cause he was heartworm positive so he'll be going thur treatment and will be ready to go to his new home the middle of Sept. Don't wait til then cause this sweet boy will be gone!! Adopt him now so when he's heartworm free you can take him right into your home. He is home trained and gets along with all dog. We think kids would be fine but not sure about cats. He loves to give kisses and sleep in the big bed. He loves to be outside so a fenced yard is a must. If you are interested in adopting Rascal please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online app and put his name on it and remember that out of state adoptions are welcome and home visit is required.

More about RASCAL/..BC

Not Good with Cats

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
