OAKLEY LOVES KIDS!! being FOSTERED IN TN
Not much is known about OAKLEY except that he was surrendered by his owners cause they got chicks and he killed a couple so off OAKLEY went to the pound. Dachshunds are known hunters so if you have ducks, chickens or any kind of bird don't look at OAKLEY as a pet!! Other than that he is very non-aggressive to the other dogs here. Just wants a lap to sit in and someone to pet him. He is going to need an exerisise program as he is over-weight by about 5#'s. He's a sweet boy but does walk good on a leash so if you need a walking partner, OAKLEY is your man and he promises not to HOG THE REMOTE!! We have not had him around cats but since he has such a good prey drive with chickens we would suggest no cats. He appears to be housebroken and he is neutered. He will is UTD on all his shots but will be re-checked for heartworms and chipped. Please consider OAKLEY as your next family member. OAKLEY thanks you for considering him...........
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.

Not Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
