Lucy was adopted out by us 3 yrs ago but just returned because her owner is very ill and will not recover!! We are so sorry about Lucys mom and poor Lucy. Lucy is looking for a home to spend the rest of her life where she won't be brought back to us again. Lucy is very sweet does not bark much but is an alpha female and needs to be an only dog or with another male. She is housebroken and will go out and do her business and come back in, walks great on a leash. Lucy would be great for an older retired couple that has older grandchildren but not small(under 8). If you would like to give Lucy her LAST forever home please fill out an app for her today.

This is her bio from 3 yrs ago, you can see it's not changed much except she's put on some lbs that we need to take off and are working on that right now and will have a dental this week.
Lucy has not had it too good. Shifted to a couple of homes before she was taken to a shelter. For the most part she is housebroken, loves to cuddle and wants all the attention but will play with other dogs. No young children but older is fine. She is UTD on all shots and on heartworm prevention and Frontline. She also likes to ride in cars and go for walks. If you'd like to make this sweet girl yours please go online to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online application and be sure to put her name on it. We will help with transport but will not bring the dog to your dog unless you are close to the foster home.
Lucy likes to sit up and beg too!!
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost off to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
