Right now Levi is very scared and will need some time to settle into his new home. It will take him time to settle in but the wait will be well worth it as once he knows he's home he becomes very friendly and loving.
He would be fine with another female or a couple of females but no males he does not get along with them but could after he's neutered but we'll say no. Kids only if they are 12 and up as he has never been around small children and their fast movements might scare him. He has lots of energy but is not hyper. He is utd on all shots, on heartworm prevention and Frontline. He is housebroken to a doggie door and may require some work to get him to let you know when he has to go outside or you'll have to be patient until you learn his signs that he needs to go out. LEVI says he wants to go to a home where he'll be loved and cared for and be a buddy to someone. Are you going to be that person?? He's waiting.............
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.
More about LEVI.......KY
Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
