About KOKO....AL

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes
NAME........................................KOKO DACHSHUND.........................PURE/TWEENIE COAT........................................SMOOTH COLOR....................................RED W/BLACK OVERLAY AGE..........................................13-15 YRS GENDER.................................MALE/NEUTERED WEIGHT...................................14 LBS contact Sharon sblanton@bham.rr.com ADOPTION FEE................Just A DONATION +10.00 chip fee KOKO belonged to one family all his life but the mamma or daddy(we aren't sure which) got sick and had to go into a nursing home. The daughter or son(again not sure which) didn't want KOKO so what did they do but put him in a crate walk him into the animal shelter and literally dropped his crate on the floor and said "We don't want him anymore". With his age the shelter told them that mostly likely no one would want KOKO and he'd end up being put down. Their comment, "That's what we were hoping for"........POOR KOKO....He doesn't understand that after all these years he's being thrown away not from the ones that loved him but by the ones that loved his momma or daddy. Really makes you wonder what this world is coming too....... We just can not understand why NO ONE would want KOKO, he likes to play, he's fully housebroken, no trouble and loves his doggie bed, gets along with cats, dogs and probably older children. He doesn't bark when the rest do he just wants a warm lap or his doggie bed. The vet that did all of KOKO's vetting said that KOKO was well cared for all of his years and he has no medical issues so he could live another 5-8 yrs. PLEASE PLEASE find it in your heart to give KOKO his last home so he won't be homeless anymore. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.

Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
