NAME.......................................JANIE DACHSHUND........................PURE/TWEENIE COAT.......................................SMOOTH COLOR....................................RED AGE..........................................7 YRS GENDER.................................FEMALE/SPAYED WEIGHT..................................15 LBS ADOPTION FEE.....................150.00+10.00 chip fee contact Diane nashcat50us@yahoo.com BEING FOSTERED IN TN Janie is very very shy and will need some work with trust. We don't think she was ever abused just not ever given love so she doesn't know what that means....for this reason we have listed her as "Special Needs" it will take someone time to get her to trust enough for her to want to be in your lap. She would do best with one other dogs male or female. Do you want a challenge?? Well here she is....... JANIE came in with Tilly, Ruby, and Kayla from a puppymiller in KY. These dogs were given up cause they said they were sterile and therefore wouldn't make them anymore money so they dumped them at a shelter. These dogs need to be socialized and still after 2-3 weeks will not let us touch them but we are letting them come at their own pace. That really is the best way. They have not been abused just not treated as well as they are now now allowed to be inside dogs. They use the doggie door so if someone is interested in the challenge of socializing these dogs and making them understand that humans are not to be feared but will give them food and love than this is the dog for you. They are potty-trained to the doggie door and go in and out to go potty. They do need a fenced in yard as they are not leash trained but do great in a crate. They are not jumpers and are happy to sleep in the doggie beds. They would be fine with another dog or cats but no kids, they would be too stressed. If you have the time and love to give these poor babies please find it in your heart to give one of them a forever home so they know what it's like to be a pet and not a breeding machine. They are all UTD on shots and on heartworm prevention and Frontline and will have a dental before going to their forever home. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.

Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
