WE ARE PRETTY SURE THIS DOG WAS ABUSED BY A WOMAN.........
This poor dog was found as a stray and some good people picked him up before he would get hit by a car. They took him home but couldn't keep him. He is very protective of his family and after being in foster for a while it's very clear he has been abused. He will bite in fear or if he thinks you are going to hit him he will also bite. This boy needs to learn that not all people are bad!! Other than that he is as sweet as can be and does get along with other female dogs but no male dogs. He likes to play. Also we feel it would be best for him to go to a home with older children not young due to his personality. WE WOULD SAY NO CATS. If you are interested in working with this young man so he understands that no one will ever hurt him again please contact his foster mom and she'll give you the scoop on him. If you feel you are up to the challenge then please go online to www.ssdr.org and fill out an application. Make sure you put his name on it. We do require a home visit and out of state adopters are welcome as well as Canadians. Thank you for your interest in a rescue.
More about JACKSON/...AL
Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
