He is very muscular and the perfect weight. He was surrender by owner due to nipped at child but we don't know what the child did either to provoke HUEY, but for that reason we are going to say no childern under 12 yrs. If you want a showy dachshund than this is the one for you. He also has some white on his neck and on the back of his neck and I was told that means that somewhere in his lineage there was a dapple. This boy wants to be right with you all the time. He rides get in a car and walks great on a leash. He gets along with females and most males. Cats are ok. He also appears to be housebroken. AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
