We don't know why he has personality plus and gets along with all dogs. Very sweet and funny. A joy to have. He does appear to be housebroken and rides great in a car and walks well on a leash. We don't know about cats or kids but I'd say older children and no cats. If you are interested in him please go on line and fill out an adoption app and be sure to put his name on the app. Keep in mind our dogs are not outside dogs, only to potty and play then it's back in the house and by no means do we want them staying outside while you are at work or play. These dogs that are in rescue have gone thru so much we don't want them to go thru more but want them to have the best possible home. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.

Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
