About CHERRY..Canada

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
Dachshund ........... Mini/Pure Coat .................... Smooth Color ................... Red Age ..................... 6 years Gender ................. Female Weight .................. 10 lbs. adoption fee..........200.00 contact Diane Meet Cherry. When Cherry was dumped at the shelter she was pregnant & had puppies 3 days later. When we got them, her and her puppies were covered in fleas & had lots of parasite. She is now fleas & parasite free!!!!!!!! Now all her puppies have been adopted & she is waiting on her forever home!!! Boy has she come out of her shell now that she is not worrying over her puppies. When she first arrived all she wanted to do was be a good mother & now that they have been adopted all she wants to do is play, play, play!!! The vet said that poor Cherry had been bred more times than any dog should have in their life. But luckily for Cherry that is over, she has been spayed. Now she can just live out her life in a wonderful home & play & give kisses all the time! Cherry is up to date on all her shots, on Frontline & Interceptor, and spayed. She is still working on potty training. I think maybe they kept her crated all the time because she will not use the bathroom while she is in a crate. You would have to keep a close eye on her though when she has free roam of the house. I think though if that is this little girl's only fault then that is wonderful considering she did not have a good start in life. If you are interested in adopting Cherry please fill out an application with her name on it or contact us with any questions you have. We do accept out of state adoptions, and a home visit is required. All of South States Dachshund Rescue's dogs are micro chipped & there is an additional $10 fee for that. Diane Irwin Be aware we give a two week trail period and if for any reason you return her within the two weeks you will be refunded your adoption fee minue a 25.00 re-processing fee to bring her back in to the system and board her for several days until we can find an open foster home. Thank you for considering a rescue..........

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
