She was found wondering the streets of Tennessee when Animal Control picked her up. When she got to the shelter they were going to put her down because they thought she was blind, pregnant, and had mange. Well we rescued her & took her to a vet. She is not blind just has a problem called "dry eyes" , she is not pregnant just bloated because she has thyroid problems, and she did have mange but is on medicine to clear that up. Because Callie has had such a hard time & will have to be on thyroid medicine (which is not expensive) her entire life she will be adopted as "special needs" dog. It is hard to determine Callie's age due to thyroid problems cause bad teeth & it is hard for the vet to determine. Callie has now had a dental & a full coat of hair, YIPPEE!!!! Callie is such a sweet little girl!!!!! She LOVES kids, gets along great with cats, and likes other dogs. She just wants so much to be loved. She is housebroken. She is also so egger to please. Won't you find it in your heart to give this little girl a forever home. Callie is now UTD on shots, spayed, Frontline & Interceptor. We do welcome out of state adoptions. A home visit is also required.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
