Meet Bonnie.
She came in with her brother from a breeder. They are healthy, happy puppies. They love to play and sleep. Bonnie is the bossier of the 2 babies, and will let you know when she does not like something. She also wants to be around you at all times. Right now she is very content to just sleep in your lap all day. Of course she will out grow that stage and become a rambunctious puppy. They are being introduced to all different types of toys, noises, people, etc. We are trying to socialize them as well as we can. We are working on potty training to a puppy pad right now and will progress to going outside. Bonnie has had her 1st set of puppy shots and has already been microchipped. For both Bonnie & Clyde there will be a $50.00 refundable spay/neuter deposit. Once they reach the age that you are able to spay/neuter them and then provide SSDR with proof we will return your $50.00. We do this to prevent unwanted litters. IF you are interested in providing Bonnie with a loving home please fill out an application.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog plesae go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
