BABY2 came to us from a shelter in AL where she was taken in as a stray. She looked like she had just weaned a litter of pups and looked liked she'd been in a fight with another dog as she had several punchure wounds we had to treat. We took her in and got her spayed and found out that she also has some mammary tumors that need to be taken care of and that will be done on 9/22 and then she'll be ready to go to her new home. She has the saddest eyes and I'm not sure we want to know what those eyes could tell us. She is working hard on housetraining but will need more work in her future home and would be best to have a doggie door and a fenced in yard. She loves to sleep with her human family and will stay put all night long. If you take her right outside when she gets up she'll go potty. She'd be fine with older kids over 7 yrs and other dogs and cats. Please find it in your heart to open up your home to this sweet sweet baby. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
