BIO:  Lulu came from northern AL when her family turned her in because they wanted to breed hunting dogs.  The hunting dogs and Lulu didn’t get along.  We can’t figure that one out because she has gotten along with all the dogs at the Halfway House and has shown no aggression at all.

As for housetraining, we know she is doing well with a doggie door after she finally learned to use it, and she will also use a puppy pad.  When coming to your home, a strict schedule would be wise until she learns the schedule at your home.

We think she’d be fine as an only dog or with another dog.  And yes, a fenced yard is a must.

Don’t delay in adopting Lulu!  She does need to lose some weight so we do have her on diet food that will come with her to help her lose those 4 pounds.

Thank you for thinking of rescue.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
