BIO (4/16/2019):  Pavot will be a delightful companion for the right person or couple.  She was released for rescue upon her owner’s divorce.  She was obviously well loved and is ready to pass that love on.

Pavot is a Velcro lap dog!  If you are sitting, she will be in your lap.  If you are walking around, she will be following you to be ready to perch on your lap once your lap becomes available again.  She is perfect for a retired couple who relax with TV, reading, or sedentary hobbies.  She loves to walk on a leash and will joyfully help you to keep moving.  If you walk too far for her little legs, she will stop and let you know you can carry her the rest of the way.  She is good for a 30 to 40-minute walk before she gets tired.

Although Pavot is 11 ½ years old, she acts like a much younger dog.  She is an armchair protector.  If she hears a noise that is out of the ordinary, she will summon up the biggest bark possible to alert you to go check it out for her.

Pavot is in a foster home with three male dogs and one female dog.  She gets along with them well however, it is apparent that she could easily be an only dog in a household if her owners are retired or work from home.

If you want a little sparkle added to your life, complete an application for this love bug.

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Cratetrained, Likes to be in your lap, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
