BIO (3/22/2019):  The list of things this girl loves is long!  She loves to walk, play, lie on your lap, eat, sleep (in the big bed) and repeat!  Dolly is not only smart, she is a happy little hound.  She also does well in the car and I think she will get better once she is secure with her forever family and knows she will always be going back home.

Dolly found her way to rescue after living in a hoarding situation in TN.  Although she is a happy and sweet little girl, she seems to want to be the alpha.  She is protective of her toys (with which she LOVES to play) and can be food aggressive.  Just feed her separately and she will happily gobble up her food like a good little dachshund.  She is a mix, we are unsure with what, but she does have a lot of dachshund traits.

This little girl is very playful and would do best in a home with another more submissive doggy to play with, or with a human who is home a lot.  She also likes to “announce” anything out of the ordinary happening outside of the house like someone walking down the street or heaven forbid a bird flies by!  When the other dogs join in, she is even happier!  As I mentioned above, she is very smart and willing to please, so quieting her after a couple of barks is not a problem.

We have only had her in our home for a few short days and she has already acclimated to our routine.  As we learn more about her, we will update!

If Dolly already sounds like a match for your family, please visit https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org and/or email her Foster Mom at decollinss@aol.com  with any questions!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
