BIO (12/03/2018):  Hello, my name is Scooter and I have found myself looking for my very own Furever home. 

Scooter came into rescue when his family couldn’t care for him any longer. We want to find Scooter a home where he has a fenced yard and hopefully a doggie door. He likes nothing better than to run full speed in the fenced yard while you watch, or he will squirrel watch while you work in the yard. Wherever you are, that’s where Scooter likes to be.

Scooter hasn’t been around cats before and wants to chase them so we are asking for a home with no cats.

Scooter is crate trained and will sleep all night in his crate. He will let you know when he needs to go outside. He loves to sit on the couch next to you with the covers all over him. He loves car rides or walks on a leash! We are looking for someone that has a fenced yard, and loves to go for walks.  This little guy has lots of energy.  Scooter loves his toys... check-out his video.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
