BIO (10/22/2018):  Hi!  My name is Apache!  You can call me… Spiderman, because I like to climb up things…Superman, because I like to leap from high things… Fred Astaire, because I love to dance…or Little Kid, because I like to play patty cake.  Never a dull moment with me unless I’m sleeping on your lap or right by your side.  I’ll be your energetic, bundle of kisses, ready to go kinda furkid.  I learn super-fast, so you had better let me know from the very beginning what I can and can’t do, because if I do things twice, I make it a habit.

I, along with 7 of my closest furfriends, were rescued from what you call a hoarding situation, there were 52 of us.  I didn’t get to see very many humans, so I will be a little bit afraid of you.  I was never trained to do anything, so I did everything I ever wanted, wherever I wanted.  Well let me tell you, things have changed.  I only go potty outside now.  I stand by the door and whine when I need to go out.  I go out on a leash because my Foster Mom (FM) says it is good leash training.  She thinks it would be good bonding for my adoptive parent(s) to take me to obedience school, because the only thing I know at this time is to come when I am called.  Yes, I know my name…Apache.  Oh, I do love to play patty cake, dance, bow, and hold my FM’s hand between my front paws.  She says I’m a hoot!  I also walk like a show dog on the leash.

Did I tell you that I have a gorgeous shiny coat?  It shines so bright in the sunlight, you will need sunglasses!  I also have the whitest teeth you’ve ever seen.  Another one of the cute things about me is that I have a black circle on the top of my two front paws.

It will take me about 36 hours to get used to you and then we will be best friends.  I will sit on your lap, climb on your shoulders, kiss you a gazillion times, or wash your face as my FM says, follow you from room to room.  It will probably take me a while before I warm up to your friends though.  I like to take things slow.  I prefer to sleep in my kennel at night and I go there to eat or when my FM goes away.  I don’t chew things, only my toys, and then it is only a little bit.  I don’t really know what they are for.

So, if you have patience for a squirmy furkid that likes to mountain climb, I’m your boy!  You can see by my picture, I’ve already packed my bag and I’m ready to go.  All I need is for you to fill out an application, pass all of the pet ownership tests, and I can be yours!

All my kisses, Apache

More about Apache inFL

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Leashtrained, Cratetrained, Affectionate, Intelligent

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
