BIO: Polly's foster mom travels back and forth between FL to IN and she is currently in FL but she could meet you in IN if you are wanting to do a meet and greet after you fill out an online adoption application and vet reference is checked.
Hi, my name is Polly and I’m ready to go with you on a long hike, in the woods, on the beach, or just about anywhere you want to go, I’m your companion. Just bring a canteen of water and nothing will stop us! If we are camping in a tent, don’t worry I’ll keep you warm by snuggling right next to you, and I have a ferocious bark that will keep the boogie man away. I don’t bark, unless I really have to. I will whine and make what you will call funny noises, to communicate to you. I know we will have a blast, I can tell already you are excited about your new life with me! But that’s not all…I understand German, yes, can you believe it German. I was trained to heal, sit, stay, and laydown in German. My foster parents are working with me to translate these to English for me.
I have so much to tell you, I’m so excited, I can hardly get my paws to hit the right keys to type this. I love the outdoors; can you tell by my pictures? I once sat in the same spot for over an hour looking at the scenery. I’m very low maintenance, I don’t shed, I walk great on a leash, I go to the door when I need to go outside to go potty, and I love to play fetch; I’ll even roll the ball to you when I come back with it. If the ball squeaks, that is even better, because I love toys that make noise. I am not afraid of anything. I don’t challenge things, I’m just not a scaredy cat. I’m happy lying next to you, being held in your arms, lying on the sofa, or content in my dog bed. I love other dogs big and small, and I didn’t need any time to adjust when I got to my foster parent’s house. The collie, two dachshunds and I hit it off from the moment we saw each other in the hallway. We immediately started running through the house, it was great!
I’m healthy as a horse! No meds for this girl, unless you wanted to speed up my hair growth on my back. Some people think I wore a shirt all of the time that was too tight, but I’m not telling. Oh, did you notice my gorgeous tongue? Isn’t it the greatest thing you’ve ever seen! I like to be prepared to kiss you at all times. There are lots of stories about why I don’t keep it in my mouth all of the time. When I was a puppy the vet said I just had a long tongue and a short mouth and it wouldn’t all fit. Another one thought that my jaw may have been broken or been deformed from birth, because it sits just a little bit crooked making it easy for my tongue to come out. It doesn’t bother me, I can eat everything including bones with no problem. When I play or run it stays in my mouth. My foster mom has been tapping on the side of my tongue, which tickles, and saying “Put your tongue in your mouth.” which sometimes causes me to do just that. My foster dad says “Don’t worry Polly, you’ll get the hang of it.” I understood his humor, did you?
The three of us dachshunds eat in our kennels/crates, because Cash, one of the other doxies, would eat all of our food. As soon as I am done I bark to get out. I will go in my kennel with no problem, I just don’t like having to stay in there. When my foster parents go to the store they put us in our kennels, I bark to let them know that they forgot to take me, and I want them to come back and get me. So far that hasn’t worked. Eventually, I shut up. I love to go for rides in the car. I will walk right next to you in the store or you can put me in the buggy and I behave just like a lady. I just want to be near my person.
Anyway, I’m ready to have a loving family again, one that won’t get rid of me because they keep having children and forget to make room for me. If you like the outdoors and want a loving companion that will be faithful to you, I’m your gal.
Lots of exciting days ahead for us.
Love,
Your Polly Girl
