BIO (8/7/2018): Sherman, yep, that’s my name! I was surrendered from a young family with 5 children and two other dachshunds. They had me for one year after my first owner decided a husband was more important than me?? She adopted me as a puppy and had me for 4 ½ years. She took very good care of me and my health needs always attended to. The young family that surrendered me to AADR tried to blend me in with the family, but the house was very chaotic with all the kids and visitors. I was around toddlers who were not supervised enough. It made me very nervous and I really didn’t like being hit or my hair/tail pulled. Little children need adult supervision, especially around animals. They tried but I never really fit in.
Wow! Now I’m in my Foster Mommy’s home - such a difference, no small children to pester me. I have foster siblings and a fenced yard to play in. I have a Foster Mommy who shows me special attention, lots of love, and affection. My Foster Mommy lets me run and play in a fenced yard. I have a doggie door, so I can come and go as I please. I am safe but feel like I have the freedom to enjoy the outside. In the evening, I snuggle on my Foster Mommy’s lap with my siblings under the blanket. I look forward to sleeping in the big bed at night.
I have no food aggression or submissive urination. I do not bark except when company (strangers) comes over or I see a dog/cat on TV... then I bark. My Foster Mommy says my bark is soft and non-irritating. I’m not a big fan of men wearing hats either.
AADR wants the BEST for me, therefore I need a home with NO small children less than ten years of age. I need a home with another doxie playmate and a fenced yard. I need a family who will protect and care for me. If you are looking for your Best Friend- open up your heart and home- I will love you Forever!
