BIO: Hi folks, I'm Peanut!  I came from a home in AL where I had brothers and sisters who were all given away, but my brother and I were left behind.  Then a Good Samaritan saw us on Facebook and decided to reach out to the people giving us away to see if they would let rescue have us.  Well, now you know the rest of the story!

The first thing rescue did was neuter us (I think you know what that means and it hurt for a little while but not long) and they took these things off our legs called dewclaws.  Now we have to wear these silly cones for 10 days until the site heals.  We hate them... my brother Roscoe more than me since he’s more adventurous than I am.  I’m the laid back lover type, and I have to tell you my brother Roscoe picks on me but I give it right back!

The rescue told me to tell you that I must have a fenced yard, someone home most of the time to house train me, and another dog or cat to play with OR better yet, my brother.  We won’t cost you much cause we are already neutered so all you’ll have to do is keep us on Heartworm prevention and get us our last DHPP shot.  How about it, are you ready to be entertained?  I’d sure love to come into your home and be your life.  Foster Mom (FM) says she’s picking the best home for me and I believe her.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
